Laji Mountain (拉脊山)
Not “Trash Mountain (垃圾山, Lājī Shān),” it’s “Laji Mountain (拉脊山, Lājǐ Shān)” 😂
It takes about 1 hour to get from Xining to Laji Mountain (拉脊山, Lājǐ Shān).
I went up to the scenic viewpoint at an altitude of 3,820 meters. The summit of Laji Mountain reaches as high as 4,188 meters above sea level.
In winter, it gets really cold—especially up in the mountains.
If you’re planning to visit, make sure to dress warmly and bring some glucose water.
I personally felt fine, but due to the high altitude, some people may experience altitude sickness.
A Misty Glimpse of Laji Mountain
Laji Mountain is known as a top sunrise spot, where snow peaks and light come together in breathtaking harmony.
But the day I passed through, everything was shrouded in fog. No sunrise, no sweeping views—just white silence.
I didn’t even come here as a destination. It was a brief stop along another route. I had hoped to catch a glimpse of the scenery, but all I found was mist. Still, the drive was pleasant.
Travel teaches you how much timing matters. Even if we travel to the same place, we don’t always walk the same path.
